SeeHere.com Print Full Review:
Signing-up with SeeHere.com is very easy requiring only a login name, first and last names, email address and a password. That’s it. No other information is needed to get started. It can’t get much easier than that!
The SeeHere.com website has a simple design and is easy to understand. You won’t find complex menus, buttons and flashing doodads on this site. Uploading to their site is as easy as 1-2-3. You have to activate a quick upload tool that appears to be a Java applet, to get the quickest upload. Java applets are the way to go. Other sites require you to install software on your computer. SeeHere.com has a software application called SeeHere Desktop. It allows you to organize your photos on your computer. However, this application isn’t required.
The upload speed is pretty good. After uploading, the default order of your photos is by date. You also have the option to sort by name or description.
The photo management option allows you to move photos to another album, delete, download, organize/sort, rename, title and create a slideshow. It can be a little confusing at first but once you use it, the screens and options make sense. The photo management screen has a nice slider bar to increase or decrease the size of each photo. By decreasing the size you can see more photos on the screen.
You’ll probably want to edit your photos after uploading. To get to the edit function, click on the album image and then click on any photo. The editing function provides basic editing features like crop, rotate left or right, b/w and sepia toning. After making changes, you can reset all changes if you don’t like the changes made.
The crop function is the least useful tool. The default orientation is portrait! Most of your photos will be displayed and printed in landscape. You have to rotate the picture before selecting the crop tool. Also, the sides of the crop tool aren’t independent which makes it a little harder to adjust the cropping. When you make changes to a photo, seehere.com makes a copy of the photo with the changes you made. The advantage to this is you still have the original uploaded. The disadvantage is that now you have more photos and you have to make sure to select the correct ones for printing. I’m not sure I like doing it this way. The edit tool sometimes hangs with a spinning circle. The edit function needs some technical work. I found it to be a little frustrating.
After you edit your photos you’ll want to print them. The order process is very easy. There are four steps to it and you’re done. SeeHere.com sent a confirmation of my order by e-mail. They also sent an e-mail when my photos were shipped. SeeHere.com expects a print resolution of 128 to 140 pixels per inch.
Take a look at the extensive selection of gifts which include mouse pads, boxer shorts, puzzles, coffee mugs, plates, ornaments, calendars, cutting boards, neckties, magnets, key chains, t-shirts, and placemats. The only limited category I saw was the number of photo books with just 6 designs.
Of course you may be interested in sharing you photos online. The share option is easy to set up. After setting it up, it allows image downloads, photo ratings, photo uploads & comments from your visitors. You can turn these options off. You can also set a password for privacy. Like many other photo print and sharing sites, you can allow photo purchases.
The share capability has seven theme options you can select for your share page. You can customize your share page with layout options, theme color, font styles and image options. Your share page has a slideshow option for visitors. After setting up your share page, you can send invitations to view it. You can disable your page and re-enable it. If you disable it, SeeHere.com saves your prior settings so you don’t have to re-do it. That’s very nice. The share capability is simple but nicely done.
SeeHere.com provides a decent help system. The only change I’d like to see is a search function. Otherwise, I thought the help was pretty good.
The cost of shipping 38 photos was $3.19. Not a bad price. It took a little bit longer than I expected to receive my photos. It took about 8 days from my order to receipt of the photos. That’s a bit long.
I was a little disappointed with the photos I received. One of the b/w photos had a tint to it that made the photo look less than satisfactory. Other b/w photos were fine. Also, I forgot to crop my photos to 4X6. SeeHere.com didn’t warn me before ordering that some of the photos would be cropped in ways that I didn’t like. SeeHere.com needs to display the photos as they will print or pop-up a warning message before accepting a print order. Aside from my mistake, the color, finish and paper of the photos were of good quality.
Overall, SeeHere.com provides a pretty good print service. They need to improve the crop tool and display the photos as they will print. Also, the delivery took a little too long. Otherwise, the print quality was good. One hundred free prints is a great deal!
